Tara Sutaria Career Journey

Childhood Television Career

Tara Sutaria’s professional entertainment journey began long before Bollywood. She appeared as a young performer on Disney Channel India and was associated with Big Bada Boom around 2010. She subsequently became known to younger television audiences through The Suite Life of Karan & Kabir and Oye Jassie. These projects gave her early experience in front of the camera while she continued developing her singing and dancing skills. Her television period is important because it shows that her career was not built solely around a film debut; she had already spent years working as a performer before entering Hindi cinema.

Bollywood Debut With Student of the Year 2

Tara made her Hindi-film debut in 2019 with Dharma Productions’ Student of the Year 2, playing Mridula “Mia” Chawla opposite Tiger Shroff and alongside Ananya Panday. The film introduced her to a much larger audience and also brought her recognition during the awards season. Filmfare nominated her for Best Debut Female, while she subsequently won a Zee Cine Award for Best Debut – Female.

Marjaavaan and the Challenge of a Different Character

Later in 2019, Tara appeared in Marjaavaan, a romantic action drama featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh. The role was a notable departure from her glamorous debut because she portrayed Zoya, a mute character. Her performance required her to communicate heavily through expressions and body language rather than conventional dialogue, giving audiences a different view of her acting abilities.

Tadap

In 2021, Tara appeared in Tadap opposite Ahan Shetty. The film was adapted from the Telugu movie RX 100 and placed her in an emotionally intense romantic drama. The project expanded her filmography beyond the youthful campus setting of her debut and gave her a more dramatic role.

Heropanti 2

Tara next appeared in Heropanti 2 in 2022 with Tiger Shroff. The film was positioned as a large-scale action entertainer and gave Tara another opportunity to combine acting with the dance and performance skills she had developed since childhood.

Ek Villain Returns

In the same year, she appeared in Ek Villain Returns, directed by Mohit Suri. Her role as Aarvi allowed her to participate in a darker romantic-thriller setting. The film was particularly significant for her as a singer because she performed “Shaamat,” connecting her acting career with the musical background that had been part of her life since childhood. Tara has described singing as a major part of her identity and discussed the challenge of adapting her Western and semi-classical training to Hindi film music.

Apurva

In 2023, Tara took a more survival-oriented route with Apurva. The film focused heavily on its central female character’s struggle in a dangerous situation and represented a different kind of role from the glamorous romantic parts associated with some of her earlier work. The project also became one of the more performance-focused entries in her filmography.

Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups

Tara’s latest major film development in 2026 is Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, starring Yash and directed by Geetu Mohandas. Tara plays Rebecca in the film.
